Woodstock Generation (revised) - words and music by Darrell Rodgers verse: You gathered together, three hundred thousand strong amazing the world with how well you could get along A living example, of brotherhood now beginning to wonder, did it do any good? The cities are dying throughout the land and the people are crying out for a helping hand chorus: Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save this nation, or let it just die away? Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save this nation, or let it just die away? Don’t let it die away! verse: You cried out for world peace, and love of fellow man You said that we’re going to change things when we finally can But that day is upon us and its the same as before, Greedy men of power pushing us into war We don’t care for man-made boundaries but we’ve got to let them know that death and destruction is no way to go chorus: Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save this nation, or let it just die away? Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save this nation, or let it just die away? Don’t let it die away! bridge: Are you weary, just like me, of this world's tyranny? It's not too late to put this right in our children's children's lives. Teach them how to care and share. Teach the children everywhere! Can we unite now just once more? Remember we once stopped a war! verse: The people of the world, are crying out to be free and brothers and sisters they’re lookin’ at you and me They know that the next war will tear the world apart but they need to know that we can make a new start and build a new world in which generations can grow free from the threat of war so they gotta’ know... chorus: Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save this nation, or let it just die away? Woodstock Generation, tell me where are you today? Will you save creation, or let it get blown away? Don’t let it die away! Now don’t let it die... What’s Goin’ On – Words and Music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers Back in Sixty Nine we fought the draft, Fightin’ for what we felt was right. “Hell No We Won’t Go” was our reply, when they said we’d have to go and fight Then one day they called my name. Could’ve run to Canada but I joined up just the same. My father said I was the bravest one. Truth is, I was just too damned scared to run. Chorus: Oh-Oh-Oh Lord, Lord, what’s Goin’ On? Has the whole damn world gone mad? Where did we go wrong? Can’t seem to hold on to what little peace we’ve had. Well the world is in a jam again. And the countyu’s calling for all of its young men. If losing sons ain’t bad enough for you, this time they just might take your daughter too. Had a dream, two M-Ps came to my door. Oh No I thought I’ve got to fight them off once more. They said “You’ve server your time, we’re not comin’ for you mister” “This time we’ve orders, to induct your little sister!” Chorus: Lord, Lord, what’s Goin’ On? Has the whole damn world gone mad? Where did we go wrong? Can’t seem to hold on to what little peace we’ve had. Seems to me, we could do away, with the state of warfare in the world today, if men of power weren’t filled with such greed, confusing what they want for something that they need. Oh Oh Oh In the final run, its gonna come down to you and me, to protect those things that we hold dear. Won’t be no armies, no leaders left to cheer, when the smoke is finally clear Chorus: Oh-Oh-Oh Lord, Lord, what’s Goin’ On? Has the whole damn world gone mad? Where did we go wrong? Can’t seem to hold on to what little peace we’ve had. Lord, What’s Goin On? Lord, What is Goin on? Just got to wonder, what’s goin’ on Somebody tell me what’s goin’ on! R.O.T.F.L.M.A.O. - the facebook song by Darrell Elmer Rodgers I signed up for facebook Just to see what it was all about I saw abbreviations I could hardly figure out LOL means Laugh Out Loud BTW By the way BRB means Be right Back cause I've got more to say Of all the crazy acronyms My favorite one to spell Is Rolling On the Floor and Laughing R O T F L since I'm loosing part of my anatomy because I'm laughing so I'm R O T F L M A O yes, I'm R O T F L M A O Why would any grown man want share That he wears wig like Justin Bieber's hair? I guess he got confused About the button that he used his message is a wall post and he's getting quite abused! Now I'm learning things about my friends I fear I should not know… and I'm R O T F L M A O Yes I'm R O T F L M A O Once I figured out the phrases I was shocked by what they say telling crazy details of what they do each day Everybody seems so willing to reveal their private life embarraasing their children, their husband or their wife I guess I should be flattered that they trust me so well but if the truth be known here I'm ROTFL And I guess I have to thank them all for this candid camera show cause I'm R O T F L M A O yes, I'm R O T F L M A O That business trip to vegas with her boss Should have stayed in Vegas, such a loss! He's quite the talent scout His photo left no doubt She's standing there beside him with her dress on inside out! Am I sorry 'bout her troubles? I must say heavens No cause I'm R O T F L M A O Yes I'm R O T F L M A O Now why would any husband want to say he had a fling with some young waitress yesterday? I guess no one told him, Perhaps they thought he knew his wife, by her maiden name, is here on facebook too! Well he's gotten my attention But not sympathy, Oh No cause I'm R O T F L M A O Yes I'm R O T F L M A O (instrumental music) (instrumental music) I'm seeing tales and secrets I would not publicize But there they are in acronyms right before my eyes Each time they hit that enter key They're putting on a show and we're ROTFL MAO The lesson here is plain as it can be Post nothing you don't want the world to see And remember friends will share as though they do not care your embarrassment goes viral folks are laughing everywhere If you ignore my warning Well I feel you've got to know We'll all be ROTFL MAO Yes we're ROTFL MAO R O T F L MAO Copyright 2012 Darrell Elmer Rodgers

Die Workin' 04:39
Die Workin' - Words & Music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers Well I used to dream of liesure, just the wife and me Gonna' travel round the country, in a big R.V. Well I'm finally back to work now, but it's only minimum wage. The only American dream I can afford at my age (is) Die Workin', Die Workin' It's just a rough thing, for any working man. It’s the long-term, under-employed, retirement plan. Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin' Well I used to build those rockets, that carried man to outerspace. Now I'm stocking shelves at night, In this big warehouse place. Early morning hours, delivering papers door to door. It was fun when I was twelve man, but I ain't a kid no more. Die Workin', Die Workin' It's just a rough thing, for any working man. It’s the long-term, under-employed, retirement plan. Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin' I've seen them in the paper, and on the TV news. Those rich investment bankers, who sang the poor me blues. They think they're survivors, with those millions they received. But I think they're just liars, that the Government believed As I Die Workin', Die Workin' It's just a rough thing, for any working man. It’s the long-term, under-employed, retirement plan. Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin' Yes it is the dream destroyed, for any working man. It’s the long-term, under-employed, retirement plan Die Workin', Die Workin', Die Workin' If I'm Lucky, I'll Die Workin'! Copyright 2012 Darrell Elmer Rodgers

Arizona Time 03:23
Arizona Time - words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers Time clocks all around the world are changed two times a year They spring 'em forward, fall 'em back but we don't do that here Call it summer time or daylight savings it makes no sense you see In a place where summer's too darn hot and we've got all the light we need (chorus) Here in Arizona we don't even change our mind We prefer the way things were back in 1869 We never spring ahead but then we never fall behind We just keep on Keepin' On, On Arizona Time As Congress sits debating the merits of the gun, We think it bears restating, That's How the West was Won! It's Arizona culture, embedded in our roots, So we'll be votin' to KEEP gun totin', 'cause they go with Hats and Boots! ~chorus~ Washington won't let us enforce immigration laws But they won't do either and can't seem to fix the flaws And they don't want pot clinics, though we voted for them, so... We guess it means that Washington, wants only dope from Mexico ~chorus~ That's right, We just keep on Keepin' On, On Arizona Time ~end~ Additional/optional verses: Folks come from colder places to the Valley of the sun Up to Tucson, Down To Yuma, and Lake Havasu for fun They complain about our attitude and seem ashamed to say They really love our latitude, and they'd sure like to stay Please don't think us backward because we like to wear our gun We're just proud of self reliance, and don't depend on anyone We don't mind if you don't find our lifestyle right for you Just remember we might shoot anyone, who tells us what to do We still carry guns, we like to strap 'em to our hip Just to warn the Mexicans not to give us any lip In spite of our own History Books, we won't admit we know, That until 1846, Man, this WAS Mexico Copyright 2012 Darrell Elmer Rodgers

Daily Grind 04:37
Daily Grind - by Darrell Elmer Rodgers You can see him each mornin' at five-thirty-four as he walks his dog Bosco to the convenience store He's a creature of habit he loves his routine Fresh mornin' paper, Hot cup of Caffeine leaving Bosco on guard to the office he'll drive to crunch all the numbers that keep business alive but he dreams of a love he's not likely to find as he's turnin' the wheel, turnin' the wheel, turnin' the wheel of his own daily grind Her alarm clock blasts news at five-thirty-four But she'll slap the snooze for nine minutes more She's a creature of habit, she loves her routine a Latte from Starbucks(R) and Vogue(R) magazine She lives in a high-rize and works in one too In that glamorous downtown where dreams can come true but she longs for prince charming she's not apt to find while turnin' the wheel, turnin' the wheel, turnin' the wheel of her own daily grind It's day in and day out day after day working and running with no time to play But make time To Take time I'm sure you will find You hold the wheel You steer the wheel You turn the wheel of your own daily grind Each morning and evening they pass on the street The hard working lonely that never will meet We're creatures of habit we love our routine Like cogs in a wheel of the social machine We have our agendas, we've got to move on to get more and more before it's all gone and we long for the comfort we think we will find safe 'neath the wheel, tied to the wheel, crushed 'neath of our own daily grind and It's day in and day out day after day working and running with no time to play But make time To Take time I'm sure you will find You hold the wheel You steer the wheel You turn the wheel of your own daily grind You hold the wheel You steer the wheel You turn the wheel of your own daily grind Copyright 2013 Darrell Elmer Rodgers

about

This album delivers of 10 of Darrell Elmer Rodgers' "social commentary" songs - many (not all) presented with a touch of humor as this "Bard of the Baby Boomers" is known to do. The first two, written just 10 years after Woodstock, are still well worth singing today. These ten songs reflect on social issues from war, to working in a troubled economy, to social media, and even to our food. And of course, living in Arizona as he does, Darrell couldn't resist taking a humorous jab at his beloved state.
