If That Ain't Crazy
02:52

If That Ain’t Crazy - words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
Every time I look a headline I seem to find
That the world gets a little bit crazier every time
With fanatics everywhere tellin’ you how things must be
And they break your face in case you disagree
If that ain’t crazy, If that ain’t strange
Then the world’s in store for one hell of a dangerous change.
If that ain’t crazy, Nuts at best
You better lock me up, I think I need a rest.
I know a little boy who’s constantly under attack
Just because his momma’s white and his daddy’s black.
The other kids at school say “We can’t play with you”
And if you ask them why they say “my momma told me not to”
If that ain’t crazy, If that ain’t strange
Then the world’s in store for one hell of a dangerous change.
If that ain’t crazy, Nuts at best
You better lock me up, I think I need a rest.
I was surprised when I heard a preacher preachin’ for war
He said “America don’t have to take no stuff no more”
He said “We’ll kick some butt and make them run and hide”
He said “We got the right ‘cause Jesus is on our side”
If that ain’t crazy, If that ain’t strange
Then the world’s in store for one hell of a dangerous change.
If that ain’t crazy, Nuts at best
You better lock me up, I think I need a rest.
You better lock me up, I think I need a rest.
You better lock me up, -- Lord I think I need a little rest.

SAILIN’ Words and Music by Darrell Rodgers and Rick Graves
I used to dream of goin’ to sea, when I was just a boy
Hoping one day to no longer be just a Captain of a toy
I remember hanging ‘round down at the docks and hearin’ the sailors say
If ya keep comin’ ‘round with that look in your eye boy, we’re gonna take you away!
And Go
Sailin’ pushin’ off from the shore
Don’t have to worry ‘bout nobody no more
Sailin’ tackin’ into the breeze
You know I can go wherever I please....
Then one day as a younger man I made my dream come true
And I plotted my course on my maiden voyage across the sea of blue
Through many a gale and choppy sea you know my vessel got tattered and torn
But I always pushed on and it seemed somehow, I always survived the storm
To go
Sailin’ pushin’ off from the shore
Don’t have to worry ‘bout nobody no more
Sailin’ tackin’ into the breeze
You know I can go wherever I please....
Now looking back I realize that all the world’s my sea
And the vessel I’ve sailed for many years has been none other than me
and freedom’s chartin’ your own Life’s course and being in command
and pushin’ myself through wind and storm just to reach the promised land
And Go
Sailin’ pushin’ off from the shore
Don’t have to worry ‘bout nobody no more
Sailin’ tackin’ into the breeze
You know I can go wherever I please....
Sailin’ pushin’ off from the shore
Don’t have to worry ‘bout nobody no more
Sailin’ tackin’ into the breeze
You know I can go wherever I please....

They Surely Won't Forget

They Surely Won’t Forget words and music by Darrell Rodgers
Tell me that you love me woman, every day
Tell me that you need me now in every way
Speak to me those words of love I need as much as I can get
So that on some lonely night, I surely won’t forget, I surely won’t forget
Funny how the time, seems to change our mind
Never knowing quite what we’ve got until it’s left behind
Mothers tell your children that you love them so
Tell them every day now tell them as they grow
If you tell them long enough there’ll be no need to fret
When they’re finally on their own, they surely won’t forget, they surely won’t forget
Funny how the time, seems to change our mind
Never knowing quite what we’ve got until it’s left behind
Funny how the time, seems to change our mind
Never knowing quite what we’ve got until it’s left behind
People of the world tell your leaders no more war
Tell them a million times then tell them a million more
We all want peace on earth but that ain’t happened yet
So tell them with your heart and soul so they surely won’t forget,
they surely won’t forget, they surely won’t forget.

Tucson to Tehran

Tucson to Tehran words and music by Darrell E. Rodgers, Jr.
Bobby left his home up on the mountain
Far above the Tucson city line
He joined the Army for an education
But what he learned was heavy on his mind
They sent him off to fight the Taliban
In someplace torn by thirty years of war
He could only guess that he succeeded
‘cause he didn’t have to stay there anymore
Before he could find a new job in Tucson
His unit got called up again
Seems two weeks of active duty in the Guard
Can be two weeks that never end
Well he found himself in Baghdad
Patrolling dusty streets through hell
When they finally brought him home to Tucson
He had deeper wounds than we could tell
Sometimes the guilt of his survival
Can drive a soldier half insane
Bobby sought a permanent solution
To his temporary pain
Nothin’ stops the pain
Like a bullet in the brain
Well there’s other kind of casualties
Than they report on the evening news
Too many young men just like Bobby
Minds are broken, Hearts confused
Well it’s seven thousand miles and more
From Tucson to Tehran
Some folks say we’re never goin’ there
But we’d better change the road we’re on
Yeah, we’d better change the road we’re on.

Somebody’s Headed for a Heartache. Words and music by Darrell E. Rodgers, Jr.
(intro)
You and I’ve been friends for such a long, long while
Gonna seem strange my friend not to see your smile
Or hear your laughter as you’re callin’ out my name,
Things ‘round here won’t ever be the same.
Before you go there’s something I must say
about a feeling growin’ stronger every day
Though we know it’s time for you to make your break,
Soon you’ll realize good-byes are hard to take
(chorus)
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Oh it’s plain to see
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Now don’t blame me
(verse)
‘Cause I told ya not to fall in love with me
A love like ours I said was never meant to be
Still here we are on the eve of our good-bye
And it’s apparent, someone’s about to cry
~repeat chorus~
(verse)
You and I had always trued to keep things light
Never let our days get mixed up with our night
But I can tell now by that look in your eye
You might be wond’rin’ why
~repeat chorus~
(Instumental break)
(verse)
Tomorrow as you head out on the road alone
Find yourself reachin’ out to dial a telephone
Just to share the moment with the one who cheered you on
Tears fill your eyes, you realize, a chance for love is gone
~repeat chorus~
(finale)
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
Somebody’s headed for a heartache
And Lord, it looks like,,,, me.

Try to Communicate

Try to Communicate – words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
You and your lover not gettin’ along
It ain’t like it once was and you’re wondrin’ what’s wrong
Well now You said yourself, you don’t talk anymore
Just both get angry and walk out the door
You’ve got to know, that don’t cut it no more
‘Cause You’ve got to sit down and try, to communicate
Before you break down and cry, ‘cause it’s too late
One day you’ll wake up alone and wonder why
You never took time to try...
Money’s tight, things ain’t goin’ right
Your lover it seems don’t wanna touch you at night
Things are all wrong, but you got to be strong
Give it your best, get it all off your chest
And You’ve got to sit down and try, to communicate
Before you break down and cry, ‘cause it’s too late
One day you’ll wake up alone and wonder why
You never took time to try...
Don’t ask why there’s a tear in my eye,
It happens each time that I hear goodbye
Well I can’t talk about it, and I don’t want to try
Man that’s no way for love to get by
Now, You’ve got to sit down and try, to communicate
Before you break down and cry, ‘cause it’s too late
One day you’ll wake up alone and wonder why
You never took time to try...

Fault Line

|

Fault Line - words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
Since we came to California
We’ve been livin’ on shaky ground
And I feel I got to warn ya
One more good quake could bring us down
We both been livin’ on my Fault Line
Anything goes wrong, I get the blame
Well I refuse to suffer this time
From my overdeveloped sense of shame
Chorus:
And now, You can stop livin’ on my Fault Line
I can’t carry this blame alone
And You can start cryin’ on your own time
You’ve got a Fault Line of your own
Let me tell you ‘bout my Fault Line
That sucker runs long and deep and wide
When I get to thinkin’ that its all mine
It sure can tear me up inside
But I’m gonna patch myself together
I know just where some trouble’s at
So I won’t be buyin’ silly lines anymore
Like “You make me do this” and “You make me do that”
~repeat chorus~
(musical interlude)
The sun shines bright in California
I swear its shinin right on me
When the sun goes down in California
It seems to sink right in the sea
But when you’re livin on a Fault Line
Makes you wanna lighten up every step
Makes you wanna clean house in your own mind
Get rid of ev’ry heavy thought you’ve kept
~repeat chourus~
You’ve got a Fault Line of your own

Second Chance
03:01
|
|||
Second Chance words and music by Darrell Rodgers
I can’t remember just why we said good-bye, so long ago and way back when.
I’m just so grateful that we’ve got this chance to try and be together once again
‘cause, It’s a rare occasion when we get a second chance,
to make a first impression or to re-dance the last dance
Now and then I recommend we resurrect romance and give love a second chance
When we were younger we needed separate space, our own time and our own place
This love today, it’s both old and it’s new, A little different me, a little different you
I’ve been around the world and I’ve seen a thing or two
You’ve been around the world and I know you’ve seen it too
Given time to change your mind, that’s just what love can do
Now all I really need is you
I can’t remember just why we said good-bye, so long ago and way back when.
I’m just so happy we’re together once again, it sure feels good to have a friend
‘cause, It’s a rare occasion when we get a second chance,
to make a first impression or to re-dance the last dance
Now and then I recommend we resurrect romance and give love a second chance
Now and then I recommend we resurrect romance and give love a second chance
Keep givin’ love that second chance.

Have You Been There Too?

Have you been there too? - words and music by Darrell Rodgers
Seems like forever since we were one. I well remember our youthful fun.
In dreams at night darling we rendezvous, and I'm wondering if you’ve been there too.
Lately I’ve been dreamin’ ‘bout you every night. I’m married now so it don’t seem right
I ain’t lookin’ for a dream come true, I’m only wonderin’ if you’ve been there too.
Have you been there darlin’ do you dream of me, do I hold a sweet spot in your memory?
Tell me sugar, tell me true, do you think of me like I think of you?
Do I still love you? oh there ain’t no doubt. Got you in my heart, can’t get you out.
There ain’t a single thing that you need do, but tell me that you’ve been there too.
The years go by, they leave us lonely, dreamin’ ‘bout some former one and only
The only one I dream about is you, and I’m wonderin’ if you’re dreamin’ too.
Have you been there darlin’ do you dream of me, do I hold a sweet spot in your memory?
Tell me sugar, tell me true, do you think of me like I think of you?
(skat) Deet en daadi doot en deet dat do, deedley daaten deeten dat deet do
Deeten datti deet en dat deet doo. Tell me darlin’ have you been there too?
(skat) Beep Bop Boop booo. Deedley datten deeten daaten dee doo.
I close my eyes and I fantasize, tell me darlin’ have you been there too?
Have you been there darlin’ do you dream of me, do I hold a sweet spot in your memory?
You can tell me sugar, tell me true, do you think of me like I think of you?
Wait a minute, I don’t want to know. I’d be heartbroken if the answer’s no.
But if it’s yes, that’ll torture me too, knowin’ there ain’t nothin’ we can do.
So, don’t say a word, keep it to yourself. I’ll put my memories of you on a shelf
And take ‘em down when I get feelin blue and imagine that you’ve been there too
I’ll just imagine that you’ve been there too.

Lovely Lovin' Woman

Lovely Lovin’ Woman – words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
I used to think I was being cool, Never been no woman’s fool
Stayed away from lonesome girls, gonna play the field, gonna see the world
Well I thought I was doin’ fine, then I met you and changed my mind
But that’s OK you were just in time
And all my friends stare at me,
They said I act so differently
Well I can’t say but it might be
I got a lovely lovin’ woman in love with me
Well I’ve been around the world, and I guess I’ve seen about a thousand girls
Though many tried they couldn’t tie me down, I felt I had to move around
That’s until I fell in love with you, and got confused about what to do
I guess because you said you loved me too.
And all my friends stare at me,
They said I act so differently
Well I can’t say but it might be
I got a lovely lovin’ woman in love with me
Now together we’re so happy, we’re gonna raise a little family
Just the dogs, the kids, and you and me, that’s the way our life will be
Well for me it seems strange you say, but let me add that it’s OK
And I wouldn’t have it any other way
And all my friends smile at me,
They said I act so differently
Well none can say but all agree
I got a lovely lovin’ woman in love with me

Real Love – words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
I said I love you to others before
I even thought it was true
But now I know I never knew Real Love
Until I fell in love with you
True love’s not selfish
In fact it’s sacrificial
Always seeking something sweet to do
That’s how I know I never knew Real Love
Until I fell in love with you
Don’t think that it’s infatuation
‘Cause I’ve been down that road before
This is a brand new situation
My heart knows is so much more
I said I love you to others before
I even thought it was true
But now I know I never knew Real Love
Until I fell in love with you

All Right Now
03:56
|
|||
All Right Now words and music by Darrell E. Rodgers Jr.
I spent my youth searching for shortcuts,
I thought would take me to fortune and fame
I now recognize in the time that I wasted,
The road could have carried me there just the same
But it’s all right now
We get through it somehow
With our Fathers and Mothers
Sisters and brothers
It’s all right now
I once was loved by a beautiful woman
She knew how to listen, she knew what to say
The joy of those days brings me pain to remember
The day in September she cast me away
But it’s all right now
We get through it somehow
With our Friends and Relations
In frank consultations
It’s all right now
So don’t tell me, Life’s too tough on you now
‘cause I’ve been there, and I know you’ll make it somehow
...Don’t tell me, Life’s too tough on you now
‘cause I’ve been there, and I know you’ll make it somehow
I used to think that true love was something
That grew after living together so long
I now realize after losing a marriage
For love to survive, well, it first must be strong
But it’s all right now
We get through it somehow
With our Spouses and Lovers
Significant others
It’s all right now
When we were young, we married without love
Foolishly thinking we’d run out of time
After tormenting years, we separated
And got tortured by tears of the kids left behind
But it’s all right now
We get through it somehow
With our heartfelt confessions
And counseling sessions
It’s all right now
Well it’s all right now
Yes it’s, Almost, all right,,, now.

Rocked In the Cradle

Rocked In the Cradle – words and music by Darrell Elmer Rodgers
Through my life I’ve stumbled and I’ve often fallen down
Many a time, I find that I’m starin’ at cold ground
Cursed every rock and stone that tripped me on my way
But I can tell, I only fell, when I chose to stray
And I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand.
Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Took a painful lifetime for me to understand,
I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Momma tried to warn me, Son that stove’s hot stay away
Being prone to foolishness, you know I just had to play
Been burned so many times by my rebellious fun
I’m grateful to the good Lord that I could not reach the sun
And I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand.
Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Took a painful lifetime for me to understand,
I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
I know sometimes it seems that God has punished you
You know protection sure can feel the same way too
Look back in wonder at how God has guarded you
His love is why you can testify, You’ve been Rocked in the Cradle too
And I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand.
Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Took a painful lifetime for me to understand,
I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand.
Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
Took a painful lifetime but now I understand,
I’ve been Rocked in the Cradle of God’s love by His own hand
